“It takes a village to raise a child, or so they say. Well it takes a neighbourhood within that village to give that child a sense of community, a sense of safety and a feeling of home.” Carrie Cameron was the third family to move in to Stone Ridge Meadows and although few homes had been built, she knew this Genstar community was the right choice. “Although the emptiness was vast, we could envision what the neighborhood would look like one day. With Genstar's vision in mind, we knew this was where we wanted to live.” There are many factors to consider when selecting a new home community. Architectural style, kitchen, bathrooms, large family area, community amenities…but perhaps one of the characteristics that will create biggest impact is the sense of community camaraderie. As the Cameron’s moved into their new home, along with the other homes being built, they also got to witness something else – the creation of a new community emerging and lasting friendships being formed. Last July, the first Stone Ridge Meadows block party was held with many new residents attending to discuss the home building process and their future plans for their new homes. “It was at that party the neighbourhood became even closer than before, and afterwards, more neighbours were greeting each other by name and stopping in the street to chat with each other” said Carrie Cameron. This year’s block party was held in August and plans have already been made for next year’s block party – not to mention planning exiting holiday plans for Halloween and Christmas. Back the adage of “it takes a village” to create a sense of community, safety and a feeling of home? Cameron recounts how living at Stone Ridge Meadows will impact their daughter. “Little does she know it, but our young daughter will have all of those things, which are abundant here in Stone Ridge Meadows.” Genstar Development Company has been developing mater planned communities for over 50 years across North America.
